SYNOPSIS:

The Journal is a short film that tells the story of a struggling high school student, Jacob, who’s given a tough assignment to keep a journal for the remainder of the school year. It will be 50% of his final grade in the class. He’s reluctant, as he hasn’t been doing well on his recent writing assignments, but he’s determined to at least try. He decides to start fresh with a new notebook/journal by purchasing one at a local bookstore. While at the bookstore, he runs into a fellow classmate, and has an unexpected heart to heart about their pasts.

CHARACTER BREAKDOWNS:

[JACOB] [GENDER: MALE] [AGE: 16-18]

Jacob has lived in the community for at least a year, but he’s still not quite acclimated to the area, as he barely has any friends and is generally ignored at school. He’s also doing poorly in school, due to personal issues that have been weighing on his mind. 3 years prior, his sister died of leukemia, and he’s devastated by the loss. His family has fallen apart; after the death of his sister, his mother couldn’t take the loss and her relationship with his father disintegrated. He’s now living with his mother in a small apartment, while she’s taken an extended leave of absence from a teaching job.

[CASEY] [GENDER: FEMALE] [AGE: 16-18]

Casey Meadows is a generally cheerful, very intelligent teenager. She’s very much into writing, and does it nearly every day by keeping a diary or journal. She, too, has suffered a loss with the death of her brother several years ago. However, through her writing, she’s found an outlet to express her confusing emotions and has found peace.

[JACOB - ADULT] [GENDER: MALE] [AGE: 30-35]

Jacob is an established writer, having written several novels and non-fiction books, as well as having won several awards for his writing. He is married to Casey and has one daughter. He is writing the most difficult book of his life: his biography.

[CASEY - ADULT] [GENDER: FEMALE] [AGE: 30-35]

Casey is now married to Jacob and is a mother to their only daughter. In addition to her own personal writing, she is now a licensed therapist.

Casting/Crew/Location Calls for Independent Feature Film “A Murder Most Cold” [Delaware/Maryland] #casting #crewcall #locationcall

26 Sep

PROJECT TITLE: A Murder Most Cold
CLASSIFICATION: Independent
STATUS: Non-Union
CATEGORY: Feature Film
FORMAT: HD
DISTRIBUTION: Festival Circuit
SHOOTING SCHEDULE: Mid October-Mid November
SHOOTING LOCATION: Newark DE, Wilimington DE, Elkton MD

SYNOPSIS:

“A Murder Most Cold” is set in a all too near future where androids work side by side with humans. One of these androids has been raped and murdered, but the killers have gone free, and now a fellow android is out to avenge the death of her “sister.” She hires a hit man to help her track down the thugs but as the journey goes on it becomes clear that her hired gun is less human than she is and perhaps even as twisted as the killers they’re hunting.

The film will be shot in black and white, film-noir style. While there will be lots of action and suspense the plan is to try and create a 50s B-Movie atmosphere so as to focus on the story, characters and ideas rather than get caught up with special effects. Several parts have already been cast and shooting will begin mid October in the Newark and Wilmington DE area. The film will be shot entirely with Canon DSLRS (T2i, T3i and 60D).
